This is my first go at Friday Fictioneers – a 100 word flash fiction challenge based on a photo prompt. So here goes….
Where had it come from? Grey haired Farmer Joe couldn’t explain. He spoke on local radio, broadcasting his confusion at the arrival of the edifice in his hay field. Crowds gathered by the unbroken fence, speculating, tweeting, poking selfie sticks through the wire.
Explanations ranged from military helicopters to alien transportation.
‘Where the heck had the blasted can come from?’ Joe’s question remained unanswered.
After several weeks, the journalists left, the cameras switched off, the tents folded up.
Then one day, a tornado ripped the giant cylinder up into the air; where it landed, nobody knows.

Great to see you you at FF! Love your story – I’d far rather it was a alien object than a boring old silo!

Thanks Keith, it would be more interesting! Although your silo has dark secrets.

Round and round it goes, and where it stops nobody knows.
The eventual loss of interest is so typically human.

Very true, even with modern technology, interest wanes quickly.

Welcome, I haven’t been around for long either. I love this, that cylinder sure isn’t in Kansas any more.
