I’m joining a multitude of Friday Fictioneers for a burst of creativity. Using a picture prompt posted every Wednesday by Rochelle Wisoff on her blog, I’ve to conjure up no more than 100 words by Friday.
You know I don’t want to cut you, but you’ve been too successful. You’ve stretched out, filled the spaces, captured the rain drops on the black days and cast shadows on the bright ones. Each spring you do this; wake up and burst with energy. I’m envious of this new growth; mine was stunted years ago.
Why not hold it in check and save me the effort?
No? You’ve gotta keep those shoots sprouting and leaves unfolding?
Sorry, then. My garden needs light and my grass has to grow.
Let me do this gently, quickly, while the kids are playing catch.
I really liked this. I always feel bad for pruning!

Me too. I did some the other week and it’s hard work too! Thanks for commenting.

I hesitate when I prune too. Lovely prose.

Hello Tracey, thank you, I did some pruning recently, so it must have been in the back of my mind.

I can relate, I always feel sorry and guilty when pruning and weeding. The thoughts/conversation flow beatifully, great story.

Thank you. I’m not a keen gardener, perhaps because I don’t like to prune.

Oh, I’m terrible at pruning. I’m always afraid I will kill the plant. Well done.

Dear QW,
I’m not much of a gardener myself. Nicely written piece.

I’m ambivalent towards weeds, it depends what they look like.
