It could have been the sun, or the tops of the buildings, but I chose the foreground. Hope you enjoy my 100 word flash fiction challenge brought to you by Rochelle.

Emmy L Gant
The bin man collected the rubbish today.
He took away the crushed cans
And water bottles,
The sweet wrappers,
Bottle tops and half-eaten sandwiches,
The knot of discarded plastic bags,
And the heap of scrunched tissues.
The baby’s pacifier was stuck to lollipop sticks,
Balls of chewing gum and cigarette butts.
The needles had pierced the bag.
The spray can had leaked red paint.
Poking out of the torn newspaper
The gnawed chicken bones lay shattered.
While the blood stained handkerchief
Embraced the stinking whiskey bottle,
Which rattled on the bars.
He left behind
The unchanging view.
Oh poetry of trash.. love it.

We could say that you answered the question in my story most poetically.
Very well done, with good rhythm and contrasts.
A great take on the prompt

Dear Rae,
Dare I say your poem is pure rubbish? And I mean it as a compliment. Very well done.

I really liked the images here; each one discrete and graphic. This worked really well for me.

I don’t actually go rooting around in bins, so I’m glad it conjured up the right imagery. Thank you.
