Re-calculating – #fridayfictioneers

Hundred words!  This week’s Friday Fictioneers’ post, hosted by Rochelle Wisoff-Fields and the prompt….

Re-calculating!

He’d begun the journey on a highway. Then, when an accident had barred his way, he’d followed the sage advice of his GPS.

Re-calculating!

He glared at the titchy screen and the red marker, which hadn’t moved.

One road after another, taking him further away from his destination and into valleys, hillsides and the narrow streets of forgotten villages.

He was lost.

The GPS knew exactly where he was, but he didn’t. He’d lost control, faith and patience.

Snatching the device off the dashboard, he wound down the window and threw it at the goats.

One promptly ate it.

We went off-piste on the Yorkshire moors once. The GPS was furious, so we switched it off and followed the old fashioned finger posts.

I’m a great follower of signs. I only recently acquired a GPS when it became apparent I couldn’t read the small print of the road atlas. Off-piste is fun, as long as you have plenty of time.

Hahaha! Well, at least the goats got something good from it. Too funny.

Fun! I always use a trusty road map. No GPS for me.

I used to, until I needed reading glasses to read the road map. Now I have a GPS to shout at me instead.

    Dear Rae,

Hilarious. I’ve felt this way myself sometimes.

    Shalom,
