Hello, it’s Friday Fictioneer’s 100 word story time. Many thanks to Rochelle Wisoff-Fields for hosting.

When Daniel brought home the wreck, his wife stormed indoors. It was the fourth one he’d dumped on the driveway that year.

The first became the kids’ climbing frame. He’d sold the next to another car enthusiast and he’d given up renovating the third.

“It’s Chitty!” shouted Tom, running around it.

“Could be,” Daniel wiped his oily hands on a cloth.  “This time I’ve chosen right, son.”

“It’s going to fly, like Dumbo.”

“Up there with Mary Poppins.” Daniel pointed to the sky.

“More like Superman.”

Daniel planned to sell it to a wedding chauffeur to pay the bills. Reality sucked.

This brought back fond memories of an old 1950’s Chevy my Dad brought home much to my Mom’s dismay and the neighborhood kids delight. We went on many fantastical adventures in that old car. I had forgotten until today. Isn’t reading wonderful?
    Thank you,
    Tracey

My Granddad owned a garage and I remember the smell of oil and metal to this day.
Reading is wonderful, I’m glad I gave you some fond memories.

Nice take. The mention of Chitty made me smile. Too bad reality does suck sometimes. I hope his wife doesn’t give up one hime.

I’m sure she wouldn’t – he’s trying to pay the bills.

Good story-telling. Excellent job of juxtaposing the dreams of our hearts against the hard reality of our lives.
